　　Language is a tool used to deliver people’s intentions, emotions and information.
It refers not only to letters and sound, but also to such body language as expressions,
gestures and sign language, such communicative signs as cryptographs, signals and Braille,
and such natural scientific languages as mathematical formulas, chemical formulas
and computer languages. Also, language is a vital code system, which is necessary to deepen and develop awareness, thoughts and philosophies of individuals and groups.
Language that is stored, accumulated and has become more sophisticated in our memories,
through repeated use and practice in our daily lives, is an asset inherited from the past,
but which changes with the times,　or to put it another way, which is the artifact of our cognition and creativity . In this time of major change toward a new society, how should we understand language and create new ones? We believe that we can enjoy a richer and broader “world of expression,” one that is not limited to the narrow definition of language,
but which includes art and sport.
Shouldn’t we explore more deeply the emotional part of human beings
that can be found in such expression?

言語（LANGUAGE）= 「コトバ」は，文字や音声以外の表情やしぐさ・手話などの身体言語，
暗号・信号・点字などの伝達記号，数式や化学式やコンピュータ・プログラミングなどの
自然科学における言語を含め，そのすべてが人間の持つ意思や感情，情報を伝えるための
媒介手段です。と同時に，個々人や集団の持つ認識・考え・思想などを深化，発展させてゆ
く際に必要とされる，きわめて重要な記号体系でもあります。私たちの頭の中で，日常的な
反復や訓練によって記憶，蓄積され，より精緻なものへと発展してゆく「コトバ」は，
過去から受け継がれながらも，時代とともに変化をしてゆく，人間の認知力と創造性の所産
ともいえます。新しい社会へ向かう変革期の中で，私たちは「コトバ」をどのように
受け止め，どのように創造してゆけばよいのでしょうか？　狭い意味での言語表現に
とどまらず，芸術やスポーツをふくめた幅広い豊かな「表現の世界」を，もっと，
もっと楽しみ，その表現のなかにある，人間のもつ情的な部分について，私たちは，
もっと深く見つめ直す必要があるのではないでしょうか？
